Dutch to Broad Peak in 2004
10:24 a.m. EST Jan 6, 2004
This summer four Dutch will head on over to Broad Peak – Frits Vrijlandt, Rozemarijn Janssen, Menno Boermans, and Bob de Kort. Frits was the first Dutchman to summit Mount Everest from the North and the fifth to do so all together; he’s also completed the seven summits, Carstensz version. Rozemarijn Janssen was the first and only Dutch woman to summit Carstensz and Vinson.
Right now Bob and Menno are skiing in either Italy or Switzerland, checking and testing their camera equipment. Sony lent the team a video camera, from which they’ve mounted to a helmet to act as a head camera. Bob and Menno are probably testing this setup as well.
