Delgado plans for K2 2004
13:20 p.m. EDT Sep 25, 2003
Andrés Delgado hopes to tackle K2 again next spring. He recently contacted ExplorersWeb in his search for other expeditions planning to go next year. Andrés made his first trip to K2 in 2000 as part of an international climbing team that included Hector Ponce de Leon, Araceli Segarra and Marty Schmidt. The team climbed along the North ridge and Andrés made it to 7,650m before turning around.
No stranger to 8000m peaks, Andrés's previous summits include Mount Everest and three ascents of Cho Oyu -- summiting twice in 10 days in 1999! He has also reached the foresummit of Broad Peak and holds the record for the fastest climb of the Polish Glacier on Aconcagua (a peak he has summited fourteen times) – in 9 hours, 17 minute from Base Camp to the top.
Andrés is the owner/operator of ADventure Expeditions, a guiding outfit based in Mexico.
